Loosing period

We hear about this often, that women loose their period for some time during cutting phase at some point. Some may think it is normal, however, lets be honest - anything that normally should not occur is not ok. Whether you are cutting just to loose some excess fat or prepping for a competition you should do everything to not loose your cycle and keep healthy while reaching your goals.


*off course... competitors' cutting phase is much more complicated and at times, it may be difficult to avoid menstrual cycle loss, but they should be aware of everything they are doing and be mindful


In this article I am going to make you aware of what negative effects menstrual cycle loss can bring


Menstrual cycle is a series of changes our bodies go through when they are preparing for a possibility of pregnancy. I'm not going to talk here about the process, but the importance of it and what can happen if it disappears. Women bodies are very sensitive to any stress, this can be mental stress or physical stress such as overtraining or malnutrition, overly restrictive diet. In effect, it shuts down any non-essential processes to cut down on energy expended. That is how we loose period and become infertile, which is called amenorrhea.


As said, a woman's body is extremely sensitive to deficits. However the deficit setpoint varies from woman to woman. Some of us can be leaner and can hold strenous workouts, others not at the same level. We cannot forget that for any active woman, the stress is not only sport-related. It is also work, personal issues, sleeping, diet and more. This all can contribute to the system being shut down. There is hundreds of reasons that can contribute.


Why do you need your hormones to function well?

There is many and more problems that start to occur when your menstrual cycle is off, and these include:

- fatigue

- disrupted sleep

- hair loss

- depression

- skin issues

- anemia

- bradycardia

- chronic pain

- digestive issues

- osteoporosis risk


This is just some of the problems that happen when you loose your cycle. Also, more importantly you may loose the possibility of becoming a mum in the future, as many girls struggle to recover their period back to normal. So take care of yourself <3
